Boys height chart by age

The 5th, 50th and 95th percentile heights for boys from birth to 20 years. Under 2 years the figures are the WHO international growth standard; from 2 years they are the CDC US growth reference. The percentile calculator places a specific child on these curves.

Height by age for boys, 0 to 20 yearsPercentile curves from the 3rd to the 97th for boys from birth to 20 years, WHO below 2 years and CDC from 2 years.
Curves are the 3rd to 97th percentile; the bold line is the 50th. At 2 years (dashed line) the reference switches from length lying down to height standing up, so the lines step down slightly.

How to read a height chart

Find the age (or the height) in the left column and read across. A percentile is a rank among people of the same age and sex: at the 50th, half are shorter and half taller. The 5th and 95th mark the edges of the range most people fall in, so a child between them is not unusual.

One reading says little. A child who stays near the same curve as they grow is following their own pattern; crossing several curves is worth raising with a doctor. Charts describe populations, not individuals, and a tall or short parent shifts what is normal for a child.
